This class is a gentle introduction to a classroom environment and routine. Caregivers accompany children for each class. During our time together, children have the opportunity to explore fine motor skills, creative sensory experiences, and music, all within the play-through-learning format. Daily activities include: free play amongst the preschool learning centers, snack, circle time and outdoor play. Toddlers also enjoy two excursions outside the classroom a year, such as to a pumpkin patch and a children's museum.
Caregivers are also students at Bothell Family Cooperative Preschool. As an affiliate of Shoreline Community College (SCC), members participate in parent education. We place a high value on exposing caregivers to best practices that will support and equip them on their journey. Every other week caregivers will participate in small-group discussions during class time. Quarterly evening parent meetings often include speakers on a variety of preschool development and parenting topics. Families pay an annual SCC tuition, which is then used to subsidize educators' salaries.
